Tobin Center for the Performing Arts

San Antonio, TX

In 2008, The Projects Group (TPG) partnered with the Bexar County Performing Arts Center Foundation to provide Owner’s Representative Services. Within the total $150M expansion and renovation project, TPG’s scope was to manage the design, construction, and close-out of the conversion of the historic San Antonio Municipal Auditorium into the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts.

TPG’s scope included preserving the historic entry structure and portions of the landmark arcades around the building. Inside, TPG managed the construction of a new 1750-seat multi-purpose auditorium, including a fully-automated orchestra-level seating transformation system and a new 250-seat studio theatre. The project was one of eleven global development projects selected as a winner in the ULI 2016 Global Awards for Excellence program. This project successfully revitalized a historic, yet obsolete structure resulting in a new gateway to the northern stretches of the Riverwalk.
